Strap your child on and go and do whatever it is you want. You will never have as much freedom as you do right now. Don't waste it. [ Reply | More ]

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Do not go looking for friends based on the fact that they gave birth at the same time as you. That is how so many women end up with frenemies. Just go and do things you enjoy and you may (or may not) meet someone you have something in common with. Common ground is better than procreation when looking for friends. [ Reply | More ]

ITDA. I made a boatload of friends with kids of the same age like mine. It was a blast. There was something to do every single day. Sure, there were a few fall-outs but mostly I am still in touch with some even though we moved to a different part of the city. [ Reply | More ]

They can't meet you for lunch every now and then, or for drinks after work? [ Reply | More ]

I went along to the Babybites lunches when ds was small. I met some great Moms there who I now spend my time with (meeting 2-3x a week) to let our kids play together while we get a break. We are now on second babies and it is great to have support. [ Reply | More ]

Those early months were the best for me (I had an easy baby). Went to lots of museums (while dc slept in stroller), long walks in the park, lunch out (again, while baby was sleeping), lots of reading. Once dc starts crawling, you won't have to worry about keeping yourself busy. [ Reply | More ]

i have met nice moms at playgrounds (go first thing in am before it is too hot), pp yoga, library read out louds and music class. it isn't like you go to these things to enrich dc for most part-it is really to meet other moms. I also found that having a schedule and certain projects each day helped. we belong to a club with a gym/babysitting/indoor playground, and I've met nice moms there (mostly nannies during the week though) [ Reply | More ]

Babybites has some good informational lunches that new moms attend, check out bigcitymom.com..ton of activities. Also check out meetup.com, you'll find a ton of NYC based moms group in various neighborhoods. There's ton to do in the city...not so much in the suburbs. [ Reply | More ]
