How much would you pay an hourly babysitter who has a college degree in early childhood special education and a teaching certificate? She has been working for us for 2 years and is wonderful. She has many many years of experience. She is taking care of two children for a few hours a day one who is severely autistic age 4, and one typical child age 5. We just aren't sure what is appropriate pay. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

UES. I think that might be the high end of what people pay but if I have a good sitter I like to keep them happy. [ Reply | More ]

Given the SN of one child and your baby sitter's exceptional background, i would pay $20/hr. $15 is the rate for two typically developing children and a nanny with no special training, so obviously you will need to pay more. [ Reply | More ]

Are you the OP? If that's the going rate in Tribeca then I guess you would need to pay $25/hr for your situation. [ Reply | More ]

ita, she deserves at least $5 more an hour for the severely autistic kid, especially because of her training. I doubt that any of your friends nannies would be will to charge their regular rate to deal with an autistic kid anyway, nor would they be at all qualified. [ Reply | More ]
