I'm a little irritated that my OB exam today has made me uncomfortable all night and that I have some bleeding. If it's still this way, I'll call Dr in the morning. I don't want to bring on early labor. I didn't have any of this with db #1. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I think it's fine to check how your cervix is...it's fine to deliver now anyway, your baby is ready. [ Reply | More ]

you know her baby is ready? by speaking to her on an anonymous forum? you know that her baby, an individual who has never existed before now, is ready to be born? no, the fact is you don't know that, at all. Babies are ready anytime between 37 and 42 weeks--you have no clue whether this baby is ready. [ Reply | More ]

thanks. I think I might just request that he not do one next week if it's not necessary. Can't I just wait until the db is ready to come - the old fashioned way? [ Reply | More ]

yeah, and no one ever asks why. WHY? There is no reason. Do you know most midwives don't do vag exams unless one is either requested or medically indicated? [ Reply | More ]

He was checking dilation and seeing how far down the db's head was. I think this is pretty standard at this point in the pregnancy. I could be wrong. In any case, I'm saying 'no' next week. [ Reply | More ]

having one exam in the last few weeks, and one EVERY week, are very different. I would feel extremely uncomfortable with a weekly vaginal exam. There is simply no reason for it, so I think you're very smart to say nay. [ Reply | More ]
