I only want to apply for coed for my dd. Can you name 8-10 coeds we should apply to this fall? TIA. Prefer Manhattan only. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

perhaps you should just ask your staff to do the research for you and deliver the memo in the morning. [ Reply | More ]

we did this: Trinity, Dalton, ECFS, CGPS, cathedral, Bank Street, Trevor. You might add Riverdale and HM, although we did not want ot go out of manhattan for lower school, and wanted to stay uptown. [ Reply | More ]

Thank you for a serious answer! Where is the dc at and are you happy? BTW, I don't understand why they segregate the sexes in the lower grades. HS, I can see, but. [ Reply | More ]

I would add taking a look at Manhattan Country School, Calhoun, St Hilda's, Metropolitan Montessori, Birch Wathen Lenox, Mandell for uptown coed schools. And do Friends, St Luke's, LREI, Grace and UNIS for downtown. [ Reply | More ]

FWIW, a few of these have preschools or pre-Ks, so very few spots for K. These schools are: MCS, Bank St., Calhoun, Met Montessori, and SHSH. [ Reply | More ]

Town also has a preK, but they add about 20 additional spots for K (although some of those spots are still taken by sibs). Trevor has a preK, too, but adds 30 spots for K (again, some spots taken by sibs). [ Reply | More ]

This is a good list (though I continue to maintain that Trinity is a waste of time). I would add Town, and Friends if OP is willing to travel that far south. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, but it is new and has a very ambitious mission, so everything doesn't run as smoothly as in more established schools [ Reply | More ]

Are you a parent there? Could you tell me more about the school? I would love to learn about it ! [ Reply | More ]

Do you prefer progressive or more traditional education for your child? Do you care if schools have a religious affiliation? Do you prefer uptown or downtown? There are no independent schools in midtown, for some reason. Are you OK with K-8 schools? If not, your choices for coed are much more limited. [ Reply | More ]

I would definitely look at Claremont downtown. We are headed elsewhere but we were really impressed with the school and would have definitely taken a spot if we hadn't gotten a spot at our FC. [ Reply | More ]

What a mature response. You really think it's impossible that I could have genuinely liked the school? You seem like a very open-minded person. Enjoy the day. [ Reply | More ]
