when at the park, do you like when other kids play with your kids' toys? I don't - am I alone? I figure, if you are going to the park, bring toys -why would you expect to use someone elses? I just wonder if i'll have no friends? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I don't mind but I hate when other kids think they could take over my dc toy. I hate the drama that comes with it. We just don't bring anything to the park [ Reply | More ]

I had a real jealousy issue with ds which is pretty common. But if he's OK then I'm fine as long as the toys are returned in OK shape. They make friends that way too. [ Reply | More ]

OP: part of me is ashamed of myself - they are just toys - and feel that dcs will learn from sharing. that said, i hate when other mothers dont even acknowledge that their kids are playing with our toys - like: joey, that is not yours, ask if you can use... anyone with me? [ Reply | More ]

Ita. I don't bring anything to the park because I figure, hey, you're at the park, play on the swings, play in the water, go down the slide... But I don't let dd play with other kids' toys because usually someone is already playing with it. [ Reply | More ]

now that my kids are older, I have some perspective. don't bring anything to the playground (or someone's house, etc) that you don't want to share. [ Reply | More ]

in my mind, it's like the dog run rule: if you bring a toy, expect to share it. it does kind of bother me when another kid plays with dc's toy because i m a little controlling and territorial, but i know that it will just be a minute before the other dc loses interest and moves on - and, if not, we just do bait and switch when necessary. in other words, i know it's my issue. I think if you bring sand toys, baby strollers or that sort of thing to the playground - you will most likely have to expect to share. I want my dc to understand the concept of sharing her toys. I agree, though, about those moms that don't teach their kids to ask first or don't pay attention at all. [ Reply | More ]

Why did you have to take a swipe at other moms? Why can't the moms who "don't teach their children to ask first or pay attention" simply have a different idea about toys in a playground then you do? [ Reply | More ]

In our house, you take it to the playground and you are not playing with it - its open season. If you don't want other children to play with it, leave it at home. [ Reply | More ]
