It's the new summer session at playgroup and one of the new toddlers is an absolute nightmare. Not even 18mos yet and she hits, bites, pulls hair and she has done all of these things to my toddler. Mom just laughs and acts like it's so cute. What am I supposed to do about this? tia [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

is the play group run by someone? if so, talk to them. If not I would talk to the mother. [ Reply | More ]

There is a teacher and this week, it seemed as though she was having trouble too. I'll talk with her about it next week. What would I say though? And what would I say if I spoke with the mom? I don't want to be offensive but then I also don't want her kid around my dd anymore. [ Reply | More ]

just tell the teacher how you feel, she probably feels the same way and ask her to talk to the mother. some parents are so smitten with their little ones they think everything is cute and okay when in reality it is clearly not. [ Reply | More ]

I have very low tolerance for children like that especially when it's my kid getting the brunt of it and am not above bitching out the caregiver or parent. i had a child removed from dd's preschool class for this because even the teachers could not prevent it and they backed me up on it. my dd is very verbal and well behaved and this other kid had obvious issues. I guess I will just see how the next session goes. Dh took her to the 1st class, and told me about it. I saw it for myself this week and could not believe it! My poor dd. And not just her but all the kids were trying to run from this little one. She even snatched and twisted up the teacher's glasses. What did you say when you bitched out the mom from your class? I said that i needed to talk to her about something and then asked her how she would feel if my child was treating her child like that. I also said that hitting, choking, scratching and the like are unacceptable behaviors in my book and if her child does that again i am going to step in and set the record straight. [ Reply | More ]

When the hitting etc was happening to your child, did you chastise the other child? I just pulled her off my dd but afterwards, I was thinking that I should've made that child appologize or something. I feel like I let my dd down. The whole situation kept me up all night last night. not much. the child isn't even 18 months old for crying out loud. Just redirect your child IF your child gets hurt or is upset. [ Reply | More ]
