I've posted this before so aplogies. DH and I just got off the phone with our lawyer and when we told him that we'd like tomake our 21 y/o son the guardian of our 7 y/o (our 25 y/o dd is not an ideal candidate and our middle guy wants it very much) in the event of our death he was quite negative. We really don't have anyone else. dh's siblings are much older than he is - they're in their 60s and my brother has had many issues. Money is not a guge issue, there will be enough for everyone. wwyd? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

What were the lawyers concerns? Hopefully this is something that will never need to be enacted anyway but I would have thought it was up to you who you chose. [ Reply | More ]

I would do it. A similar thing happened in my family (I was the young child, my older sister- who is the youngest of my 5 older sibs) was made my guardian. Thank goodness my parents are still with us, but I know if something happened my sister would have done a great job. She now has 3 great kids of her own, and she is the guardian for my db if something were to happen to dh and me. [ Reply | More ]

it is your decision, not your attorney's. [ Reply | More ]
