Reading most Popular Posts from last night and I am sorry if this rattles anyone but it just has to be said, that bitter private SO mom was scary. Hope she was drunk because I shudder at the thought of someone walking around being that angry and irrational sober. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I am not sitting in judgement, her reaction and her behavior is indicative of who she is not the issue at hand. So what if we had been shut out, it is school, I would never become so insane over anything that was not dcs health. You can see that I am sure. [ Reply | More ]

nnp: iTTA. We have our health, our families, ect. PPL get too crazy over the school process and put too much importance into it. It's Kindergarten. If you are unhappy where you are this yr, apply out or in a few yrs try again for the 6th gr. entry point. [ Reply | More ]

np; Not really. DC is in public school and we are surviving just fine. One does not have to be bitter forever because dc did not get into Brearley. That's just crazy attitude. [ Reply | More ]

ita. Some ppl have this insane plan for the perfect prechool which will feed into the perfect elem. school which then feeds into the best IVY. When ppl are that crazed during the process, the DOA's notice this. I'm sure it doesn't sit well with them [ Reply | More ]

No - that could only be someone who is so provincial as to think an NYC private school is the last stop for a happy life. She's clearly never lived anywhere outside the city before. [ Reply | More ]

actually she didn't sound like any native I know (Including myself). She was sounding like someone who moved here with the thought that NYC privates are a must in order to meet the right ppl and be seen at the right places, ect. You know what I mean [ Reply | More ]

Native here and I agree. On both counts. Private school is not the end of the line for happiness in life and she did sound like she projected something she saw in a movie once about high society NYC and decided to inflict it on her dc [ Reply | More ]

that's so sad. I feel for her kid. Could you imagine how acted when she got shut out? We were WL everywhere and I was ok with that (I had a back up with a catholic school). We got off the WL but I wasn't going postal like this one. So sad. I feel for her kid. I hope she didn't project her anger in front of him/her [ Reply | More ]

I think the point we are all making, and the people on the old post from yesterday, is that the assumption is she must have reacted badly in front of dc. Parents need to remember that these dc know so much more about what is going on. I remember the entire process, the interviews, the ERB, the visits to schools. I was fully aware of what was happening. When dc #1 and #2 went through this I tried to keep that in my mind [ Reply | More ]

I just read a post from last night about someone who was so angry about being shut out. She sounds out of control and a little crazy. It's scary that ppl get like that. I felt that her reaction was more personal than anything. You would think her parents just rejected her from their family. She needs to just chill and accept what is done [ Reply | More ]

I didn't read the post, but if she's a little unbalanced, I suspect that might have something to do with the schools rejecting her child. [ Reply | More ]

We got out of a TT school despite legacy. Now I am over it. I never got ballistic but I was pissed off for a bit. Now I am like, look maybe it was not for us anyhow. We are not that hoity-toity. [ Reply | More ]

you are just as bad for judging too. We were shut out too so I can see where she is coming from. We applied broadly had high erbs...at ECFS the woman who interviewed us - the one from a few yrs back who admitted on 20/20 that a hefty bribe would get your application a 'second look'- obviously hadn't bothered to even glance at our application- thought ds was a dd- got the basement interview at Dalton, another similar tactic at Friends...point is, I would have rather them called me and said "we think your kid is ugly, don't bother coming in for the 3 visits" then wasting our time. It's a crappy system that has no regard for the parents, and more importantly the children. The whole process is humiliating but you forget all that once you are in...if not, you are left feeling taken advantage of. [ Reply | More ]

I think that some schools are like that and some are not. I agree the process sucks, but didn't find it humiliating even though we also got a basement interview. I did feel judged by some of the schools, but not most. The main problem really is sheer numbers. I do understand how she can feel bitter, but wishing ill on others I cannot understand. I think people are reading too much into it. It's like deciding not to shop at a store due to bad service and telling your friends about your experience. If you walk by one day and they are closed down, you feel some satisfaction that their crappy customer service may have contributed to it (when it could have been the owner had cancer and died). I don't understand why those who weren't shut out can't sympathize with those who are. It IS a numbers game so not all shut outs are crazy freaks [ Reply | More ]

ITA though last night's post did get a bit out-of-hand and it did seem that people were wishing ill on others. Most people who I know, IRL, sympathize with people who were shutout and those who were shutout are happy for those who were not. Everyone agrees that the process sucks and that some schools do treat you horribly. [ Reply | More ]
