OK, let me explain further. I told the admissions director she rejected my ds, but I said it was a smile and then we did go on to have a good talk about what schools are appropriate for what children, etc etc. She was mortified at first, but we ended up having a lovely evening together. I should have explained further and I apologize, but there was no need to jump on me and call me rude. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I think I'd get along well with you OP. I'd have said the exact same thing! If she was truly offended by it, then I'd think she had a stick up her butt anyway and wouldn't care to befriend her. If that is what she does for a living, she has to realize she will cross paths with someone she rejects some day. OTOH if she realized (as I guess I would if I were in her shoes) that I was just giving her crap about something and it was water under the bridge, I would probably put in my list of people I could hang out with.
