OK this is weird. DD is going to Brearley and we are very happy. Each morning I see the Chapin plant we got from the play date on our window. It is growing strong. I really liked Chapin and considered it equal to Brearley. I also liked the Chapin girls that I met there but chose Brearley because it was a better fit for us. Each morning the damn plant keeps saying to me, "Should have sent her to Chapin". I have considered getting rid of the plant but I am afraid it will give me 13 years bad luck if I throw it out. They are great great schools, each of them and not as different as you may think. We have one at each and really we see very little difference. [ Reply | More ]

If the plant is upsetting you and you don't want to throw it away give it to someone. Be happy with your choice. [ Reply | More ]

would never have chosen ss, but if I had (or even looked at them, my guess is we would have preferred Brearley. Just the sound of the school from Ub seems it can accomodate a more diverse (in terms of personalities and everything else) group of people. I would not worry about chapin. if brearley felt like a better fit, this is likely just cold feet. [ Reply | More ]

While I think Brearley is great, we found just the opposite. OP and her dd will be very happy I am sure [ Reply | More ]

Not into SS either, but I found Brearley and Chapin to be similar in terms of diversity. Well, at least visibly. [ Reply | More ]

Our Chapin plant died but our dd is going to Dalton. FWIW I would have chosen Brearley had she been accepted there. [ Reply | More ]

LOL, same here. Dd will be going to a coed but Chapin was our 2nd choice. Really loved Chapin. That Chapin plant is darn strong. Sometimes, I don't even water for 2 weeks and it's still not dead. Sometimes, I have buyer's regret and wonder if we should have gone with Chapin (bec the girls I met were so nice and everyone I met there). I since replanted it to a bigger pot. [ Reply | More ]

It's like a cactus, except it's not. I think it's brilliant for Chapin to give out plants. I had dd water the plant everyday in the beginning and she used to be so excited to water her own Chapin plant. She wanted to go there and we formed an emotional attachment to them. [ Reply | More ]

hope you feel better getting this off your chest -- you made the right choice for you if B is a "better fit". fwiw, my DD is happily headed to S but our Chapin plant is still growing strong and now just one of many in her window garden. maybe you need more plants? [ Reply | More ]

Toss the plant. We are in the same situation - turned down C for Spence and have some second thoughts - but we need to be happy for our good fortune and move on. [ Reply | More ]

Glad to hear it. They are both wonderful schools and I'm sure either of our girls would thrive at either place. We are very excited and feel very lucky. [ Reply | More ]

mother of a thousand daughters -- or something like that. it is a succulent plant that is not quite a cactus and spawns many offspring. [ Reply | More ]

Did all you people really have a choice among these schools? My dd attends Chapin, but while B was interested in her, we had to tell our PSD which school we really wanted. I [ Reply | More ]
