WWYT? Anyone BTDT? DH was strongly anti-CIO, really anti-crying at all, so after a few HUGE fights when DS was about six months old about the fact that we needed to let him CIO, I decided it wasn't worth ruining my marriage over I started putting DS to bed by laying next to him. Flash forward eighteen months later... I really can't take it anymore and want to teach DS to go to sleep unassisted even if it's tramautic for us all. I do bedtime about 5/7 nights. I end up falling asleep in the room, sleeping with DS instead of DH. Told DH that's it, I will never ever lie down with DS again. DH can put DS to sleep 5/7 nights or work with me on a plan. DH is stressed about work right now and I am adding to his stress. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Stick to your guns. It's ridiculous that you still have to lie next to your TWO YEAR old child for him to fall asleep. You are not doing yourself or your child or your marriage any favors. Start CIO tonight. In a week or so EVERYONE will be much happier. [ Reply | More ]

In the end he will learn to sleep unassisted with or without CIO, but do what you want [ Reply | More ]

I think that's terrible advice. Yes, he will eventually learn, but when? If you do nothing, some kids will not sleep on their own until age 5, 6 or later! Meanwhile, OP is miserable. [ Reply | More ]

And that is life and it will not last forever. I personally don't see what the big deal is that she is falling asleep with ds, especially if she and dh are not on the same page about CIO and she knows that CIO will stress out dh. [ Reply | More ]

Oh feh, dh will get over it. It will not last forever, but what about the next 4 years? That could destroy a marriage! [ Reply | More ]
