My nephew was upset when he woke up but my niece wasn't. It all depends on the dc. He was calmed down quickly once he saw his parents. He had his tonsils and adnoids (sp?) removed [ Reply | More ]

Thanks. He goes nuts when we brush his teeth so I am expecting him to be upset. I feel so bad, but the doc said we really need to do this. [ Reply | More ]

Out of it. Probably not much more than me or his mom though... It is amazing how quickly he bounced back. [ Reply | More ]

My ds was sedated intravenously for an ophthalmological procedure. It was probably harder on me than on him. Good luck! [ Reply | More ]

Mine did, at 2.5yo, though not for a minor procedure. The going under wasn't so bad, but coming out of it was awful - heartwrenching. She doesn't remember it, fortunately, but it was absolutely awful to watch. They eventually gave her some morphine so she could sleep a bit more, and when she woke up from that it was a bit better. I don't mean to freak you out, but just be aware that it can be ugly. GL. [ Reply | More ]

My dd is very sensitive as well, so I wasn't surprised that she reacted so horribly. I don't know if it's standard to give them morphine - when she couldn't calm down after the first hour, the nurse suggested it, especially since at some point dd said "it hurt." She slept for about 30 minutes and we were able to leave shortly after that. She was 1000% better as soon as we left the hospital. May I ask what surgery your dc is having? [ Reply | More ]
