I posted below about the nanny who won't be available in the mornings anymore. We were planning on giving her a small raise for her anniversary, but now that we will probably have to pay someone a premium for working part time, I don't think we can swing giving her more. Do you think I should explain it to her, or just say nothing? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

how many dc's do you have? How many hours does nanny work and how much is she getting paid now? Only asking because if she is under market she will probably go elsewhere otherwise I think it is perfectly fair. [ Reply | More ]

We have two in Bklyn and she gets $15/hr, does nothing but watch the kids (no housekeeping, etc.) The rub is that DD will be going to school fulltime in the fall, so she'll only be watching one most of the day. [ Reply | More ]

That is a very fair rate -- I would not give her a raise but if it all works out maybe a nice year end bonus. [ Reply | More ]

I cannot imagine that she would be expecting a raise while asking you to accomodate her schedule. Since the PT person is only watching 1 dc, I can't imagine you'd be paying her more than you pay your nanny to watch 2 dc. Plus, lots of nanny's want AM hours because their "child/children" is in school and their FT family has cut down their hours. [ Reply | More ]

what makes you think she or a friend of hers isn't reading this? [ Reply | More ]
