I feel this way too so often, try to look at all that is good in your life and vigorously concentrate on that. I appreciate bike riding with my son, small and trivial, but also beautiful. [ Reply | More ]

Life is just a series of choices. Your choices aren't over. They may very well be limited, but you still have them. Good luck. [ Reply | More ]

Depends on your plan, but most plans cover 10 visits or so. Some therapists will do sliding scales if you can't pay. [ Reply | More ]

you have a long life ahead of you. you can make choices toward changing the parts of your life that you don't like. set goals and go for it, at this point you have nothing to loose. [ Reply | More ]

i can't quit this job without having another one and it needs to be close b/c of my kids. i am mad at myself for not having worked harder as a young woman to prepare myself for this time in my life. [ Reply | More ]

well you can't change the past, all you have is now. Now is where you make decisions to change parts of your life that you are unhappy with. It sounds like you are trapping yourself in a place that you don't need to be in, IMHO. [ Reply | More ]

The vast majority of people feel that way. Carve out your own little piece of happiness. Try hard to remember what is important. If you are a secretary for a toilet manufacturer, it isn't much different than being a secretary for company that cures cancer, kwim? [ Reply | More ]

i disagree. the work i do now is mostly paperpushing and justifying my department for a regulatory commission. publishing companies and museums nearby are not looking for help and a one hour commute is not doable for me right now, so i cannot go to manhattant to work. [ Reply | More ]

my point is secretarial work is secretarial work. Don't look for excitement in your life from your job. Find it elsewhere - you know somewhere that really matters. Yourself, your family, a hobby, volunteer work, a gift you have to share with others. Jobs are jobs - thats all they are. [ Reply | More ]

I'm not sure when this was posted but it sounds as if you are suffering from depression. That doesn't mean there aren't things you'd like to change in your current life but having depression makes it hard to see things clearly and make changes. Most insurances companies cover at least brief psychotherapy. You may also want to consider medication which you could receive from a psychiatrist (also covered by insurance). If you trust your PCP or OB/GYN, some are willing to prescribe antidepressants. They can be a tool while you work through more complicated issues. [ Reply | More ]

Yes...this sounds definitely sounds like depression. I've been there. I'm also a secretary and a mother of two. You should try doing an hour of aerobics every day, eliminate sugar from your diet and take B vitamins (complete) and fish oil capsules every day. Also, if you are not already taking medication, you might want to do some research on 5HTP and St. John's Wort...they're herbal supplements and are similar to anti-depressants (just safer and milder). Although, you'll be able to find them in any health food store, be sure to do your research and ask questions before taking anything. You'll be amazed to see that life can be good again. I wish you well. [ Reply | More ]
