WWYD? Home alone with 2 DDs and smoke alarms, which are wired rather than battery-operating, have shrieked 2x for about 10 seconds each time. I have looked everywhere...no sign of smoke or fire, and no more shrieking. Debating about whether I can go to bed or need to call someone to help!! If there was a problem, wouldn't they keep shrieking? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I had this last month...there is dirt or dust trapped inside one or both of the units. Did you recently have a false alarm like from cooking or a lit candle? With ours, I burnt toast and set the alarm off and some dust particles from the smoke stayed inside the plastic cover. Climb up there, screw the cover off and blow on it. Then put the cover back on and see if it's fixed. [ Reply | More ]
