Any current NEST moms on? Do they hit you up for lots of donations for school supplies and other stuff at the beginning of the year? Also, does the school provide snacks in K, or do parents have to send one in with dc? TIA! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Thanks! Do we just send in a daily snack for our dc, or is it a rotating think where parents get snacks for the whole class? (please say it's the former!) [ Reply | More ]

O.M.F.G. GET A LIFE! Is this what you are going to obsess about the rest of the summer? Are you really having a stroke in JULY over the horrible possibility of having to pack dc a SNACK for your dc? Or is this your lame attempt at a VBA? [ Reply | More ]

in my son's class last year it was the latter. Once a month or so, you provide snacks (and water) for the class. There are some guidlines. It was not a big deal. [ Reply | More ]

In the beginning of the year you give $100 for supplies, which includes everything for the whole year. All you have to purchase for your dc is a packpack. The PTA purchases school supplies in bulk so they negotiate with the vendors a price at a considerable discount. It also saves you the hassle of running around buying supplies. Not only does that money cover school supplies that your student uses personally but it covers things that the teacher may need along the way as the year progresses. As for snacks, each parent brings in snacks for the class once a month. The teacher makes up a calendar in the beginning of the month with everyone's day on it and sends it home with the children. As for teacher presents we all just contributed what ever amount we felt comfortable with at Christmas time and at the end of the year. There was no pressure to contribute any specific amount and it was confidential. I also suggest that any further questions be asked on the brooklynNesters@yahoogroups.com site or the Nestforum yahoo site. You will hit a larger audiance of Nest parents and avoid the hostility exhibited by some on this board when ever NEST is mentioned. [ Reply | More ]
