tell me how selfish i would be to pluck my elementary school kids out of nyc excellent private simply because i don't like living in the area and i could move to northern california where i'd personally rather live. job location is not an issue. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

if you think the family would have a better quality of life in NoCa then you should go. If it is just because you feel like a change, then not really the right reason to go. [ Reply | More ]

i think its both reasons. i'm just not bonding in the community here and i have hard time imagining raising my kids here and being happy. at the same time i'm worried about pulling them out of a stable environment to start over especially because they have difficulty with transitions. what grades are they in? are they having problems adjusting here? do you have family/friends in either location? are you a single parent -- is that part of why are not bonding in the community? [ Reply | More ]

Not selfish at all. You are the adult. You get to decide where you want to live and how. You don't base it on a school. Your dc will get their chance to be adults and choose that state they want to live in. [ Reply | More ]

No Cal is great--which part? We're on the Peninsula at a great public school. The community is awesome. People are (mostly) mellow. You all could be really happy. Better to do the transition when they're younger than to keep waiting. [ Reply | More ]
