We have three dcs. #1 and #2 scored 99x3. Dh and I also scored 99x3. Will dc#3 also score the same? Is intelligence genetic? WDYT [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I think it's funny that you and your dh talked about what you got on your ERB. [ Reply | More ]

I can't imagine sharing that info with my dc. Dc also got 99x3 but I'd not share that info with dc. [ Reply | More ]

Why? We remember which schools we applied to and we remembered the test. It is like anything else in childhood that you share. [ Reply | More ]

Sure, you don't remember anything from 4yo? Some people do and some don't I guess. I remember the woman and the room. I also remembered the way it smelled and how there were a lot of crying children. [ Reply | More ]

Children are all different. Just think about it for a second. Don't we all know families with three children where one is black sheep. It happens quite often. Now, on to intelligence. Yes, it is closely related to the moms. But, things happen. Few things in life are guaranteed. [ Reply | More ]

Sure why not. We inherit hair color and nose shape from parents why not brains. [ Reply | More ]

Siblings are generally within 10 IQ points of one another. So the eight ball says most likely. [ Reply | More ]

10 IQ points is a LOT. It's the difference between a 99 and a score in the 80s. [ Reply | More ]

that's untrue -- eg, on the SB-V, an IQ of 135 will correlate to a 99.0% while an IQ 10 points lower -- a 125 -- will correlate to a 95.2% -- just 3ppts lower. [ Reply | More ]

hate to burst your bubble but I know lots of families in which one child is an academic laggard. BTW: that child often winds up being the happiest and most successful. I'm sure that whatever #3 gets, s/he will turn out fine. [ Reply | More ]

My brother has a very high IQ and is/was an academic laggard. Mine is much lower and I did much better in school. [ Reply | More ]
