the poster who wrote this post was very mean in the previous post about TT schools - this woman wrote that a number of her classmates at a TT school ended up badly (drugs, etc). they got on her case about being 25 and pregnant, among other things! [ Reply | More ]

Not at all - people were criticizing her for having attending a tt school, making all sort of assumptions about her based on one little thing - all she did was post what she did, her age and her dh's age. elitist assumptions were made by others [ Reply | More ]

You are confusing her posts with the posts of others who went to TT as well [ Reply | More ]

no, I was posting on that thread, didn't sound to me like 25yo was being elitist- she was answering others questions (and bashing of her) [ Reply | More ]

I left that thread bec it was getting too long and nasty. Just wondering about her personal choice (which I respect) to marry early and have a dc while young... seems countercultural to NYC. Wonder if her school experience factored in.. [ Reply | More ]

It was long and nasty... unnecessarily. I married my dh last year because he is my best friend, I love and respect him will all my heart, and i have known him for a number of years. We are both the children of older parents and didn't want to wait too long to have kids. That's all. [ Reply | More ]

Wow, good for you. I'm just glad that you made up your own mind to choose a family over a career first, etc. Do you think your school (TT) experience helped you to decide for or against your decision? I have a young dd and wonder if the girls schools here are entrenched in 60's feminist ideals or more modern, updated ideals... tia. [ Reply | More ]

Thanks. I wouldn't say I've chosen one over the other, I'm hoping to be able to do both, within reason (and no, my parents do not own the gallery I run, nor did they help me get my job in any way). I think going to a good girls school made me very self-sufficient and able to work hard to achieve my goals. Somewhat of the "militant fem ideals" but also a more modern approach. I haven't been criticized by anyone from my school for marrying young - and i'm not the only one who has. [ Reply | More ]

Thanks for answering. I didn't realize you were working as well. i was just thinking of all my friends in the city who worked their bottom off until mid 30's, got married in late 30's and TTC'ed around 40 - very hard to have db's, etc. I thought TT SS might encourage the same path for their grads, but it's good to hear you are balancing family and work. I think it does for some people, but that wasn't what I wanted once I met my dh. (I did actually think I'd wait and marry mid-30s). Now I'm very happy that all of db's grandparents will get to see him/her welcomed into the world, and hopefully be here to see them grow up and welcome siblings too. My parents are pushing 65 and 80, dh's are 65 &72 [ Reply | More ]

this discussion is absurd -- plenty of women get married in their mid-20s, including most of my sister's friends for some reason, all of whom were raised in New York, and have careers. many of these women had already graduated or were near to graduating from graduate school by their mid-20s. it's not THAT young.
