Okay - what do you all think of the New Yorker cover of the Obamas? Usually, the New Yorker has perfect pitch - but here I think they were off. I get "the joke". It's just not funny and not well-timed. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I agree. I understand that it's sarcasm, but the reality is that the cover will be displayed at every newsstand, but many people do not read the New Yorker and so will be left with a serious misimpression. [ Reply | More

I think they were trying to have the balls (there's that word again) to do something different, i.e., to attack the problem in a way that shows they are not scared of using caricature. Unfortunately, it did more than come off wrong, it was wrong. If you're going to do something like that, the message has to be so unambiguous, so unmistakenly clear that no one could infer a different message. [ Reply | More

this was worse than unfunny. this was stupid, inflammatory, offensive and very poorly timed particularly since dems are having such a difficult time convincing little old ladies in Florida that Obama is not muslim and trying to counteract email campaigns. [ Reply | More
