In a pickle. I still "cuddle" ( I lay down w/ him until he's out) my 8 mo down for naps and sleep. He was a VERY fussy newborn, and this was the only way to get him down. Now? He's used to it and cries if I just put him in his crib. My dad watches him 2 days a week and my mom watches him the other 3. Both have to do the same for naps, but they say they love it, so who cares? Still, I wonder if I'm doing a disservice, as he cannot fall asleep on his own. I feel like I'm in a permanent situation here, how do I (we) stop? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

he'll probably grow out of it before you do. I snuggled #1 to sleep until she was 2. Now, she wants to go to bed by herself. at 8 months, it's fine! [ Reply | More ]

If you are happy with this situation then dc is still young so I wouldn't worry. If you want to teach dc to go to sleep on his own then you might find the Babywhisperer book helpful for gentle sleep training techniques. [ Reply | More ]

i would start trying to teach db to sleep on his own now--- it's a stage where he ought to learn how to self soothe [ Reply | More ]
