My sis is a counselor and it's so obvious when she goes from chatting mode to counseling mode. I've never told her that it's obvious - and borderline annoying. She just told me that her teen dd will say she doesn't want her mom to counsel her and that's how my sister knows she's on the right track with her dd. Again, I said nothing - but wonder if I should point out that maybe her dd just recognizes the switch that I do and is annoyed by it. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

If it was me, I'd appreciate your honesty. I'd want to know if I was going into a work mode. [ Reply | More ]

a counselor should know that listening to teens is what counts - not your opinion [ Reply | More ]

I mean that her opinions are not what her dd needs - she just needs an ear and someone who cares. I don't know how I would approach that with the mom w/o hurting her feelings though [ Reply | More ]

^^and on her side - very very few teens consider their moms less than bossy and a pita. My 14 yo ds tells me often to stop spazzing - ;) [ Reply | More ]
