This my be a dumb question I should already know the answer too, but Kindergarters are expected to wipe thier own bums when they poop, right? I would think teachers would not do it for them. How many of you have incoming K dc who can do this well? My dd does, but I usually have to go behind her with a wipe. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

yes, they are expected to wipe themselves -- at dd's school, the k's went to the bathroom with a buddy, but no teacher. that said, i know very few kids who actually poop at school, so don't worry about it. [ Reply | More ]

I taught full day public K for 11 years and never wiped a bottom. If there was an issue the dc would go to the nurse for help (she would help or call parents for new clothes if nec) [ Reply | More ]

I still spot check and DC is entering K in the fall. Come fall though, he'll be on his own. FWIW he only had to poop once last year in full day preschool (9-2:30pm). [ Reply | More ]

If it helps most kids don't poop at school. DC wasn't very good at it until 1st grade. [ Reply | More ]

Mine manages fine for the most part, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't poop it school. It could change in the fall when he starts 1st grade. He was in 1/2 day kinder and almost always poops mid-afternoon. Plus he's very good at holding it if he wants to and I could totally see him doing that and waiting until he gets home. My younger one isn't yet 3 and she is 90% fine on wiping so I imagine she'll be 100% there by kinder. [ Reply | More ]
