there is way too much money thus no room for artists/middle class. I blame Wall Street, real estate developers, and Giuliani. [ Reply | More ]

There's absolutely no "Bohemian" left in this town. I seriously don't know how artists make it here anymore. Also, the diversity has moved to Queens, Bronx and other boros. No one's fault, just too expensive. [ Reply | More ]

yes it's changed a lot. I like how things are better in my 'hood but I hate that many ppl are being pushed out. The flavor that made this city so great and different is getting to bland [ Reply | More ]

There's no accounting for evolution...the grittiness and authenticity went up for sale to the highest bidders- buying cool and a piece of the action seemed like a good idea-and then they woke up and couldn't believe what they'd bought. The buyers' remorse took on ugly dimensions, as the real NY was decimated to make way for Sex in the City NY. There've always been extremely wealthy NYers but never so many aspirational monied newbies. So much for authenticity- the only true currency here is $$$. [ Reply | More ]
