I am exclusively breastfeeding my 5 month old and I have a bridal shower in Boston in two weeks. I will be traveling from Newark, NJ to Boston via Amtrak. My husband wants me to leave the baby. But I think in terms of breastfeeding and convenience it would be easiest to bring the baby. But I am torn, it would be more easier to leave her. But here are some of my questions I was hoping you could help me with. 1. If I left her, how many ounces of milk would I need to pump for the 12 hours I would be gone? 2. If I left her, how would I pump? I have a Medela pump in style. I would buy the battery pack. But how do I pump on a train and at the shower (its in someone's home). 3. How do I freeze the milk that I pump for a 12 hour trip? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

np: but then she needs to find a sitter for the baby. Many ppl don't want kids in bridal showers unless the hostess told OP it's ok to bring baby [ Reply | More ]

Just bring her. Have DH come to Boston and watch the baby during the shower. Then you can all stay over. [ Reply | More ]

better get her used to that pronto! but don't force it b/c if she does not like the bottle it will be a power struggle. I had a hard time getting my DD to take bottle. After putting in pumped milk and sitting in front of the TV with dad giving bottle we got it to work. but it was stressful [ Reply | More ]

1. you have to figure out how many ounces. has she taken a bottle of bm already? if not, pump 6oz, give bottle when she is hungry and see how much she eats. then leave that amount times how many feedings you will miss plus one extra just in case. 2. no pumping on train. Pump before train and once you get to shower. 3. no freezing milk. bring cooler and ice pack that comes with your pump. [ Reply | More ]
