Is it possible that a 4 yo could need to see a psychologist? My dd seems depressed. My ds isn't like this at all...he's a really happy kid. My dd never wants to play at playgrounds, is very angry all the time, hits her dolls, doesn't like it when I tell her I love her, etc. I'm so worried and don't know how to handle this. she's really like that ALL the time? I'd say that kind of behavior warrants at least a conversation (yours) with a child psychologist. Don't want to freak you out, but that kind of behavior could be associated with abuse. [ Reply | More ]

I agree, if it really is almost all the time, then you need to at least talk to someone, because that's a huge warning sign. [ Reply | More ]

op: no, she isn't like that all the time. She is moody a lot though. Definitely no abuse. She just told me a few days ago that she likes to hit her dolls and poke them in the eye. When I asked her why she said she just like to do it. At playgrounds, she would rather sit with me than play. At school she prefers being with teachers...sitting on laps, etc. to playing with other kids.,..doesn't care much about other kids. [ Reply | More ]

Does she have friends she has regular playdates with? Did you yourself spend one-on-one floor time with her when she was younger (how about DH)? [ Reply | More ]

oh good grief. The problem I'm sure is not that she didn't spend enough play time with dd when she was younger. [ Reply | More ]

I've been SAH since birth..spent tons of time with her, but she is a twin, so time was divided. As I said, her brother is so different...really easy and happy. [ Reply | More ]
