I got my nanny, who has been with us almost exactly the same amount of time, a $100 visa gift card that she could spend on anything [ Reply | More ]

do you love and trust the nanny? or is the nanny-cam on when you are gone? if you want to keep her happy, money is good but I agree that it should be accompanied by a thoughtful gift...shows you care and that you listen to her. If she does happen to have a sweet tooth, and what girl doesn't, go to heidiandarthurs.com they have something sweet for every taste. [ Reply | More ]

np: I think thoughtful gift is a trap that people fall into but unless you know you are an excellent gift giver (which few of us are really) going with gift card to nanny's favorite store is much more likely to hit the mark with her. [ Reply | More ]

nnp: is the point of a gift to make an effort or the point of the gift is to make someone happy? [ Reply | More ]

IMO, to make them happy, which is why I go with gift card for my nanny. [ Reply | More ]

i always viewed kids' presents as something to make them happy. but for a nanny b'day, i'd think it's more to show appreciation. [ Reply | More ]

I disagree, bonus is to show appreciation, birthday gift is to mark special occassion with something that makes your babysitter happy. [ Reply | More ]

Our babysitter is young (early 20s) and so bday is still a big deal for her. I don't think it's a requirement to buy birthday gifts, but she buys nice birthday and holiday gifts to the kids too. [ Reply | More ]
