ugh, dd (15 mos) went to bed at 8:30 and she's been up since 9:45 in her crib crying and screaming. I went in, checked on her, checked diaper, took temp (no fever) gave her motrin, offered more milk, held her for 10 mins... finally put her back and she is still crying and screaming. What do I do now? She never does this. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Could she be teething? Maybe something she ate is upsetting her? If she never does it I would keep checking, one time DD did this and then threw up and was sick for a few days. Also was the day super crazy? She could have gotten over stimulated. [ Reply | More ]

a little crazier than usually (as it's the weekend) ...she is fine when I pick her up and stops crying...just wants to lay in my arms.....but I don't want to make it a habit....I feel bad but I have the feeling if I hold her she is just going to cry when I eventually put her back in her crib... If she's never done it before, I would hold her and give her some extra attention. If she does the same tomorrow, then I would rethink but it the meantime, something may be going on that she doesn't ahve words for and a little extra love can go a long way for you both [ Reply | More ]

My ds did this once, and we tried everything to get him to stop crying (for about 2 hours). We ended up calling the pediatrician and she basically told us to give him some benedryl to get him to sleep. We brought him in the next day and it turned out he was sick (had coxsackie virus) and in some pain because of it. I am not trying to freak you out-I just wanted to share our experience.
