jesus want to smash my head into a wall. 3.5 yr old is 'going through something', dad and i split 4 months ago.... in the last week my son has been a screaming manipulative mess at bedtime, it takes him hours to settle, he want me in the room, in bed beside him, and I am not going to do it. I can't. I give 100% all day, and I need a minute at night to myself, any advice? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

So sorry to hear. Leave his room, take a deep breath, and go back in to comfort him. Sadly, you may have to come 2nd for a while as he is probably feeling that things are unstable and he can't communicate that to you. It will get better; he'll get used to the new routine. usually what i do is put him in bed at 7.45, and his bedtime ritual (with me involved) goes on for over an hour before I try to leave. So, I hardly dump him in there, I love my children so much and work incredibly hard to help them through this period [ Reply | More
