get this. we were on fire island, and i was standing in about 4 feet of water, when a little shark swam by. SERIOUSLY. It swam around my right side and then went away. I slowly walked out of the water and than RAN to the lifeguards. When i told them, they smiled and said, "Yeah?" as if it wasn't a big deal. I was just staring at them like "HELLO! SHARK!" and then they told me that there are sharks all the time, but 99% of the time, they don't bother anyone. then one of them said, "if people knew how many sharks there were swimming near them, no one would ever go in the ocean!" WHAT THE F! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

LOL!Have you never seen aerial photos of the beach around Jacksonville? There are all these people in the water and all around them hundreds of sharks. Silly - sharks live in the ocean. They are there. Most species have no desire to hurt humans and will run from you. Occasionally one will bite a human by mistake and yes, some species will eat you. Most are harmless. [ Reply | More ]

i know they live in the ocean, but i'm not pleased that they go where I'm swimming, or where my kid is swimming. and what if I have my period? can't they smell blood from miles away? what if a shark bites my vagina off? [ Reply | More ]

LMAO!!!! You are funny! Again, humans are not natural prey for most species. Sometimes, if we are flapping around like an injured fish, they bite us by accident. Stay in the pool if it makes you feel better but it's really less of a risk than driving to the beach is [ Reply | More ]

seriously, that happened to a friend of mine. She had her va-jay-jay bitten off by a tiny shark in only about 4 feet of water. She had to have reconstructive surgery and everything. look out! [ Reply | More ]
