op: I am not really sure why he feels the need to ask these questions, I toured and then we both went to orientation, so most of his questions were basically answered. I guess he just wants to find out exactly what "enriched" means. And also, he has some questions about the math and language curriculum. No major questions. I am not really sure what he expects to find out. [ Reply | More ]

Future Anderson K parent here. I'm not sure what your DH expects to find out, either. Why bother the principal? Google "PS 334 Curriculum". Lots of useful information there. If you still need more info, call the school. [ Reply | More ]

Your dh should phone the school and see if he can get Mr. Culot on the phone. He's in over the summer, but I think the office closes by 4:30. [ Reply | More ]

I don't know how accessible he is (incoming parent here), but why wouldn't your DH try Marcie Shaw or Donna Smiley first? Or the new assistant principal, Aimee Turosky (sp?). [ Reply | More ]

current A parent here: Look, Mr. Culot is not your personal go-to guy. You're already coming in here under a shadow so why not try to be less of a PITA? This years' admissions were a joke and your DH not bothering to even tour puts a cherry on the cake. [ Reply | More ]

np: Either you are a troll or one of the losers with no life. In either case, please do find something else to occupy you this summer. Though OP, I do agree that you should go to parent coordinator first, if she can't asnwer odds are she will engage the principal, but it is her jos to be parent liaison. [ Reply | More ]

op: Thank you. We weren't sure what the protocol was. In our preschool, you just went to the Director (which I guess would be the same as the principal.) I will tell Dh to go to marcie first. Btw, what is Donna's job if Marcie is the go to person? [ Reply | More ]

np: Community Coordinator - admissions, purchasing, busing, but also liaison between parents and administration, especially new parents to the school. either could answer your dh's questions and if not, would arrange for you to speak with ap or principal [ Reply | More ]

np: Donna is community coordinator - admissions, purchasing, busing, but also a liaison between parents and administration and she, just like Marcie, could answer your dh's questions. if not, either of them will make sure you speak with a.p. or principal. They're all taking alternating vacations, so not everyone is in every day. Try emailing first since a lot of summer work is out of the office (cleaning up closets, etc.) [ Reply | More ]

op: Great, if this is true, I see why all the current moms there have a reputation for being catty bitches. I only hope you are actually NOT a parent there. [ Reply | More ]

I am also a current Anderson parent and am really horrified at the snarky response above. Sounds like a troll to me, but if it was indeed an Anderson parent, then I encourage you to disregard their nasty attitude and have faith that most of us are truly helpful and much, much nicer. np. you sound nice, but the majority of anderson parents who post here are not. maybe they are not a good representation, but they make the moms there sound like a bunch of nutbar b&tches. [ Reply | More ]

yes, he is. when you have medical question, you want to speak to your doctor, not the receptionist or nurse. sending OP's dh to marcie or donna is ridiculous. the principal should be available to speak to parents. [ Reply | More ]

Sorry - not about every little question for 500 families. Principals have more important things to do with their time like observing teachers to give them informed feedback on their teaching to mentor them; generating and fine tuning curriculum; oh, and the DOE gives them a ton of administrative tasks, too. Good principals, like Culot, are available when they have a situation that needs intervention, otherwise, he's at PTA meetings and parents can ask him questions there. People need to get over needing such one-on-one time with the top cheese (whether it's school or business) before speaking with someone else in an organization. There are other competent people to help answer questions. Signed, mom of both public and private school dcs. [ Reply | More ]

No, but I am a parent who has never been thought of as a PITA by teachers or school administrations because I don't run to any of my kids' principals every time I have a question. [ Reply | More ]

They do Spanish 2-3 times a week. They do Everyday Math. Ask Parent Coordinator if there's a K parent she can put you in touch with. That parent will know more than coordinators or Principal. It's not coordinators' jobs and it's too detailed for Principal. [ Reply | More ]
