I just hate all these FA posts. Find it so disturbing how people talk about how to increase the award (buy a home with that million you just inherited, have more kids, say you care for your elderly in laws, have another baby, emphasize that your kids are adopted from africa, and on and on. no different then conspiring to maximize your welfare payment. gee...have another kid! How exactly would you know who they are? Are you on the FA committee or do you walk up to people and ask them if the school is giving them FA? You are just making assumptions based on your own skewed stereotyping. [ Reply | More

I take everything I read on UB with a grain of salt. FWIW, we receive aid with one dc, our incomes have recently gone up, so we will receive less next year. I would like to have another dc, but am afraid that we will no longer be able to afford dc's school if we do. I don't really know how the FA office looks at that. [ Reply | More

Ok, so you are against financial aid? It is disturbing that you equate it with welfare. Do you believe that only families who can afford 30K per child per year should be allowed to go to private schools in NYC? dc currently in private school. we work very hard to afford it, and i think those who cannot or will not do so, should go public. no trauma in that. do only what you can actually afford, otherwise you are not entitled to it. [ Reply | More
