Am I the only mom who can't put her own kid to bed? DH can get DS to stay in bed, but any time he is out for the even, DS refuses to stay in bed. It's been 5 years of this crap. I am so, so tired of it. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

agree.... never read the book, but she gives a lot of good advice on the show. End of the day,.. you need to stick to your guns.. it may make for a week of tough nights...but it's worth it. [ Reply | More ]

Nope - always easier for my DH to get dcs to go to bed. Sometimes I come home late on purpose so he puts them to bed [ Reply | More ]

op: I wish he would come home and put my ds to bed right now. We're going on 2 hours of "I'm having bad dreams", "it's too dark", "lay with me", "I don't know how to sleep", etc. I am so tired of it and just want some time to myself. How can you have bad dreams if you haven't even been asleep yet? [ Reply | More ]

I hate to say it but sometimes I totally loose it when it goes on too long and end up yelling at my poor dcs that I know they are taking advantage of me and they wouldn't do the samething if DH were home. [ Reply | More ]

OP: same here. Thanksfully, it wasn't as bad as usually tonight. He finally stayed in bed around 10PM. I did speak quite firmly to him a few times, though. [ Reply | More ]

Nope, it's the same for either of us, though I'm the one doing it by myself the most. Other nights--like tonight--Dh is here and we split and each take one. But the full routine is 30 minutes max (snack, potty, teeth, p.j.'s, stories). Where does your routine derail? [ Reply | More ]

Probably after stories. Since I WOH, I tend to spend too much time chatting with DS, and then he doesn't want to stop talking and settle down. I need muzzles for both of us. [ Reply | More ]

Ours usually goes fine, but DS (my oldest) can be tough sometimes. If either of them start popping out or trying to extend it too long I put them back in bed saying "it's bedtime, we stay in bed & sleep" and a kiss. Any time after that that they come out I just say nothing and put them back to bed. I had one time with DS I had to put him back a number of times, but it totally works. The not talking at all after the first time is the key. [ Reply | More ]
