Would you get an amnio? I'm 30 (got pg through IVF) all of my scans and blood results have come back normal/good (1:11,000 for T21; 1:22,000 for T18/13; AFP normal). But I'm still really nervous. I read so many horror stories that freak me out. My OB is telling me not to get any invasive tests. Would love some advice and suggestions. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Really, you have to think posivitely, the reason the recommendation for amnio is 35 is because below that the risk of m/c is about equal to the chance of downs. Is that something you would want to risk after all you have done to get pg? What horror stories are freaking you out? [ Reply | More

Thank you so much for your replies. You made me feel better. (Sorry, I'm new here, so not sure how to reply to all). I guess b/c of everything I've been through, I'm just that much more scared for something to go wrong. Some of the horror stories are women getting good results, but then amnio showing that there really was something wrong -- granted, they're all older than I am, but still. It's the fear of the unknown that scares me. I realize that pregnancy and child rearing is all about all the unknowns that will come my way, but I am a control freak, so you can imagine :-) [ Reply | More
