why is everyone obsessed with the Ivy Leagues? DH and I have PhDs. The Ivys are only good for some fields. Undergrad. really doesn't matter anyway. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

mostly the arts. We have met people with Ivy degree who were really unimpressive. The schools are full of self-centered, over-achieving brats. They also have massive grade inflation in their undergrad. programs [ Reply | More

there are benefits to the "name" of the school you attend, sadly, even if the reality of the education is no different. plus, you make connections at those schools that might not be available at some places, and connections really do matter. [ Reply | More

not really. I met a guy who was going to Harvard for Engineering. No one goes there for Engineering. There program isn't good. He would have done better at a State Tech school. [ Reply | More

I agree Harvord Engineering school is not one of the top ranked. MIT yes Harvord no. It is more of a strength with MBA, MD Psyc, not the tech. It is great for networking that is for sure and it doesn't look bad on the resume, but it does have a stigma attached which is sometimes not so good for recent grads. [ Reply | More
