So - why are two kids better than one? On the fence about having a second. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

It is not necessarily. Often one kid is better - it really depends on you. [ Reply | More ]

don't know if it is better for you, but siblings are a gift IMO. [ Reply | More ]

ita. if you can make it through the battles and sibling rivalry, sibs give/get a lot from one another, and form a bond for life. [ Reply | More ]

true. but better to have loved and lost, then never to have loved at all, is my motto. [ Reply | More ]

I would argue that the ones that don't are the exception. I can't stand one of my sisters now, but I still loved having them both growing up. [ Reply | More ]

I am just going for it. I love #1 and love my siblings. I feel like once I get through the toddler stages it will be worth the extra work. [ Reply | More ]

Everyday we say we're glad we had a second - they fight sometimes but really enjoy and love each other. They entertain each other and keep us from putting too much pressure on one. [ Reply | More ]

I love having two. They are in another part of the house right now having an adventure together. I feel like our family is more complete since DD showed up. I have older siblings but was raised alone. It was okay but I think I did miss out on that closer sibling relationship as a child (my older sister and are very close now). I like seeing my kids having that and learning from it. [ Reply | More ]

they entertain themselves. plus, it is truly amazing to see them develop a relationship. they learn to deal with conflict and at least your older dc has someone with whom they can complain about you and dh. i was on the fence and am glad I had 2nd dc [ Reply | More ]

My only is great at entertaining herself, better than most her friends with sibs. [ Reply | More ]

They have each other. They play together, they grow together. When I leave them with a new sitter or overnight at my parents its definitely easier on them because they have the comfort of having each other there. When they grow up they can complain to each other about dh and me - and hopefully stay close enough to support each other through hard times. I say this as my dh and his brother are cleaning out their parents house which is being sold in a few weeks (their dad is in hospice care in a nursing home (advanced alzheimers) and mother passed 2 years ago). np: mine are 3.5 apart and play together a lot. It probably helps that oldest is a boy & youngest is a girl. [ Reply | More ]

I think about how close I am to my sibs and try to picture growing up without them, or not having them around now that I'm an adult. Also, one day my parents will no longer be around, and good to know I still have them in my life. [ Reply | More ]

sounds like you're leaning towards having another, from the way you asked the question. [ Reply | More ]

I loved loved loved being an only. Loved it. Even now that both parents gone I'm not sorry. Economically made lots more sense & we got to do lots of things that 4 would have made impossible. I do have lots of local cousins but loved the life of just my parents and me. [ Reply | More ]
