Uberstix is a great building set, geared towards boys but who knows why? again- and is truly cool; Hearthsong.com has them on their site. Sorry but a knife of any kind seems truly inappropriate for a young child. Maybe a traditionally male dress-up outfit- astronaut, racecar driver, gorilla, wolfman. My 5 yo girl loves to assume 'male' alter egos, personae andchallenges gender labeling through role play. She is fairly irritated by the TONKA brand's slogan-Toys for Boys. Maybe, the wicked big Tonka Dump Truck is a good one-It's great for year round play. [ Reply | More ]

Art supplies are gender neutral... children that age love art kits! Legos are also fun. [ Reply | More ]
