A thought on the "cash for wedding gift" issue below, fwiw. Some friends of ours asked for cash for their wedding and got it. They were recently at our house for dinner, and kept saying how they loved our china and silver or whatever, and asked when we got all this stuff. I said for our wedding, we registered for it. And they said they wished they'd done the same because they just put the $ in their bank acct and can't remember at all what they spent it on. They wished they had registered for things that were nice/lasting and they would remember. The wife was lamenting how she knew they would never buy expensive stuff like that for themselves, so they'll just never have it. I love that I have the crystal from my father (he just passed), the china dh's grandma got us (also no longer with us), the platter from my inlaws, etc. to have forever. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]
