dr moms - i have unusual hip discomfort. i'm 39. pain not from exercise, didn't pull any muscles etc. noticed it about 5 weeks ago, thought nothing of it and have waited for it to go away, but it's actually getting progressively more uncomfortable. Somehow feel very scared about this. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

not a Dr mom but someone who started to have pain in the hip too (I just turned 40). I spoke to my sis who is a Dr and she asked me if I was stretching properly before workouts. I can't say I was doing it the right way. I injured my hip this way. It took MONTHS (like 6mo) for the pain to get better. I couldn't even move my leg certain ways. GL [ Reply | More ]

thank you. but, it's just the opposite with me. i never exercise. only walking, picking up kids, stairs etc. not overweight, per se but about 15 lbs heavier than I was pre-kids. originally, i thought the pain is from being a few lbs overweight, but then I did a google search and CANCER came up. well I did go to a Dr and he found a small amt of arthritis but not enough to cause the amt of pain I was in..so my sis was right..it was that I injured myself with my lack of stretching> GL and I hope it's really nothing [ Reply | More ]

np being overweight can cause pains soemtimes. Did you recently do something - anything - unusual? Pick up another child who is heavier? Carry groceries etc farther than usual? Push something heavey? etc etc. Most likely you have just strained something. If youa re worried, go to your doc though just to set your mind at ease [ Reply | More ]

dr mom here-its really impossible to offer any kind of diagnosis on UB-there are many, many causes of hip pain. Trust me though, you can pretty much google any symptom and cancer will come up, but this would be stastically EXTREMELY unlikely. [ Reply | More ]
