My 5yo dd's vagina is burning when she soaps up in the bath and then when she pees for awhile after. Could it be from all of the swimming (in a pool) at camp? It sounds to me like it's dry. She's been putting aquaphor in there and it soothes it but now she's scared to go to the bathroom. Any btdts with insight? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

it's probably the soap from the bath. no need for soap there, and the rest she can soap up shortly before getting out of tub. If not that, take her to the dr. [ Reply | More ]

are you using a REALLY mild, natural soap, or crap like Johnson & Johnson that is mineral oil based with synthetic fragrances? [ Reply | More ]

I would really, really recommend going higher end with the soap. Try something pure and natural--think Whole Foods--and see if it helps. Stick with it anyway. [ Reply | More ]

I think it is kind of silly to recommend higher-end soap for this problem. Obviously, many 5yos wash their vaginas every day and DON'T get burning. I would make sure she doesn't rub any soap into herself and if the burning persists, see a doctor. Could be a bladder infection. [ Reply | More ]

probably not wiping as well as she should, this happens to my DD also and I have to remind her to really wipe or her pee pee dries and gives her an inchy vagina [ Reply | More ]
