. . . and the paranthetical was supposed to say that I plan to live further uptown because the true UWS is too expensive, but I push "enter" by accident. [ Reply | More ]

Go west of Broadway (WEA and Riverside). Areas east of Broadway can be a little sketchier. [ Reply | More ]

anywhere is fine, but be warned that most of the places around Columbia - 110-120 near Riverside are owned by the school, so it is hard to find apts up there, and you DON'T want to be by Morningside Park/East of Bway [ Reply | More ]

You are on crack - I lived there for 10 year and walked through it many many many times & with my dc. It was unsafe 20 years ago, not today. It is beautiful and safe park. [ Reply | More ]

well, I guess it is my husband who is on crack. He attended Columbia Law 7 years ago and won't go near that park [ Reply | More ]

Even 7 years ago it was safe, but much more so today. Columbia security is very good about scaring people about the perils of the neighborhood, I know I worked there for years, it is mostly bunk. [ Reply | More ]

np: my friend who lives around 116th and Frederick Douglas won't walk through it with her kids, even during the day. [ Reply | More ]

I'd consider it (especially because I work right there!), but it doesn't seem like a kid freindly area. Do you find it to be? [ Reply | More ]

If you'd consider the East Side, nice rentals went up at 100th and 1st and 102nd. They even have shuttles to the subway. [ Reply | More ]

My friends just lived there and moved to FH because they hated it. I lived on 108th and B'way and went to Columbia. West of Broadway above 96th to maybe 116 is super nice and there are tons of family friendly things to do. There isn't a ton of inventory, and I don't know how prices are these days, but it is in some ways nicer and less crowded than lower down. I visited friends near Morningside Park recently but don't like that area as much. [ Reply | More ]
