I'm not much of a cook. One of the few things I will cook is chicken (tenders/cutlets). 4yo refuses to eat it. ok, so what next? all she wants to eat is pizza, PB&J, and tortellini. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I do. But I'm tired of going to the trouble of making food only to have her and 1yo refuse to eat it -- why go through the effort? [ Reply | More ]

Because you can get in trouble for actually not feeding them :) [ Reply | More ]

if you can make tortellini you can make hard boiled eggs, or veggies, or bagels and cream cheese. Think a little. [ Reply | More ]

yup, they won't eat hb eggs, or most veggies. I do give bagels w/cream cheese. the only tortellini 4yo will eat is the one with cheese in it. picks anything on pizza off the pizza. [ Reply | More ]

fish sticks? chicken nuggets? other pasta with sauce? Or if not, just let them eat those 3 things. It could be worse and they'll grow out of it. [ Reply | More ]

I don't know how to boil and egg. But, I just found Annabel Karmel's website and tried out some of her kids recipes last week. Easy to follow and even got a "do over" approval from my dh. My kids (5 & 3yo) like Ling Ling's Potstickers. The sauce is included and the individual packets of 4 are ready in the microwave in 1 1/2 mins! Also, lately I tried Carnation Instant Breakfast (my 5 yo loves it) to sneak in a couple of calories in their diet. [ Reply | More ]

Nitrite Free Fully Cooked Chicken Hot Dogs with Ketchup on the side. Ready in 30 seconds (from frozen state) on the microwave. Frozen blueberries (fresh when in season). Apple slices topped with brown sugar or caramel sauce (ice cream aisle) no skin. Really anything dip worthy. String cheese. Organic Frozen Peas for the 1yo (my dd liked to pick one at a time) - ready in 30 seconds on the micro. But, I think they'll be ok too! [ Reply | More ]

Rice and beans, eggs over easy w/english muffin, fish sticks, cheese sticks, pancakes, get some Amy's frozen stuffed shells. Don't let this thing run free; it will only escalate. Your kid won't let themself starve and the whole eating thing is very transparent to children. They need empowerment to be sure, just not this kind. [ Reply | More ]

I have a bunch of fun metal cookie cutters. Every once in while, when my little one is being finicky I'll pound out chicken cutlets and grill them. Then take the cutters and cut out a bunch of shapes. (Dinosaurs/fish/etc) I'll make a scene on the plate with the food and the cut outs and use ketchup to do some additional drawing. (I know-- re-reading this it sounds crazy but it only adds a minute or two to serving time and that time I'd be letting the food cool off anyway.) Then the odd scraps of chicken I chunk up and add to my salad for dinner. No waste and we all have a fun dinner. [ Reply | More ]

So what do you give them? Do you just order in? Do not cook "kids" food just cook/order whatever you would normally & make sure there is one thing they will eat (like rice) and eventually they will add to that. If you limit their possibilities to three things they will only eat those three things. [ Reply | More ]
