potty training Q: my 3 yo dd is almost 100% potty trained... made the switch to big girl panties about 3 weeks ago, but she still will not poop in the potty, just her pull-up. I encourage her to try and poop in the potty, and she's done it once, but usually she tries and gives up (crying and very sad, I might add) and ultimately asks to put on a pull up. As soon as she's done, she's back to panties without accidents for the rest of the day. Is this the last phase of potty training? Or do you think I'm making it worse by giving in to the pull up thing. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

it sounds like she's doing great. i would try not to stress her or yourself about it too much. perhaps try offering 2 M&M's for when she poops (and maybe one for simply trying)? also, a couple of good books are "Everyone Poops" and "Where's the Poop?" [ Reply | More ]

Put a pullup on top of the small potty and see if she'll use that as an intermediate step. But I think she's doing fine-- please tell her she's doing a great job of learning something new and that she'll get it! [ Reply | More ]
