How would you have handled this -- brought 4 yo ds to an "audition" for a music school. Everything went great with the audition until it was time to leave. Ds insisted on opening the door, but couldn't b/c the knob was big and slippery and the door was so heavy. He wouldn't let me open it and kept insisting on doing it himself, but he just couldn't. I tried to pry open the door, but ds tried to close it on my fingers. He just wouldn't listen to me. I could tell the evaluator was astounded by his behavior. Eventually, I started counting and ds finally relented. Was there a better way to handle this? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I know -- I guess I was still in the need-to-show-Mr. Evaluator-ds-is-ready-for-music-lessons mode. [ Reply | More ]

there's little reasoning with a 4yo who's really frustrated. [ Reply | More ]

I think you did your best. Unfortunately every kid has good days and bad days. This happened at our interview/play date at Brooklyn Friends, flawless visit until the on the way out ds decided he didn't want to leave, but instead wanted to play more. We did not get accepted btw. [ Reply | More ]
