DC was accepted to public G&T for K but applying for private K this fall(fall birthday). Super intelligent and artistic, interested in drama, dance. Which is the better fit between Dalton or St. Ann's(I know it is longshot but IF DC were accepted both). Which school has stronger academic and fullfilling DC's interest more? No flame please. What was your feeling when you toured them? What vibe did you get? [ Reply | More ]

I haven't toured them yet. We will in fall. PSD says we should try these 2 schools for DC however DC left preschool already and ready for K this fall. PSD said we don't need her help and DC is bored with preschool. Ready to move on. [ Reply | More ]

If dc is girl - the girls schools (at least the three TT & MM) are better for this hands down. You should check them out. That said, dc would do well at either St. Ann's or Dalton GL [ Reply | More ]

then SA will be better regardless [ Reply | More ]

Didn't mention NBS - that may be the individual child's talent and have nothing to do with the schools' programs. [ Reply | More ]

I was listing it as a TT school, which I consider it to be. And I think many would say that SA has the best arts programs in NYC regardless [ Reply | More ]

Why think about this now? I would tour them (and others) and see what you think. But I would also look at schools like Nightingale and Chapin. [ Reply | More ]

^^ just saw it's a boy. What about Collegiate or Allen Stevenson? [ Reply | More ]

not very artistically leaning. I would stick to coed for this type of boy, personally, esp if he's not being challenged by school atm - girls are likely going to be more his level [ Reply | More ]

Allen Stevenson actually has a reputaiton of being quite good for artistic boys. [ Reply | More ]

Look into it, but it does sound like coed would be good for this boy [ Reply | More ]

I'd choose Dalton. Their drama program is superb (school produced many actors). Visual arts program is very good. of course, academically rigorous. But if I lived in Brooklyn, I'd choose SA. I'm not a fan of a long commute. [ Reply | More ]

Sorry, but you will not be accepted to both until you are coming from an unconnected preschool. BTDT, got into Dalton because we named it our FC. [ Reply | More ]
