If our nanny lives in our preferred school's zone, takes DC to school every morning and picks him up every afternoon, will I get a variance? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

No such thing as a "variance" anymore. They are now called transfers and no, the fact that your nanny lives somewhere else isn't a reason a transfer is granted -anymore than if your electrician lived there. [ Reply | More ]

Actually they are called exception request forms. And yes because of child care you can go out of district it is an option on the form. But I suppose you must have a strong case and documentation. What that might be I have no idea. [ Reply | More ]

I was just thinking that. I don't think I have ever seen this before. And then I was trying to think of a bad neighborhood with a good school, but I couldn't think of one. So I came to the same conclusion you did and am stymied. [ Reply | More ]

She doesn't (she doesn't even need to be a she) but it is unusual for a nanny to live in a better neighborhood than her employer. [ Reply | More ]

nope. the dc's primary residence must be in the zone (unless you and dh are divorced, then you can take your pick). [ Reply | More ]
