39 weeks, 5 days pg. DH just asked if he could go to yankee game tonight. i feel ok - having BH - not dilated yet - but feel like he should stay home with me and rub my huge, swollen feet, cook dinner, take care of DS - am i being selfish or not selfish enough? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

if you don't live far from Yankee stadium I say it's ok for him to go. He won't be doing this for a while since you will need the help [ Reply | More ]

you're not being selfish to want him to stay but it would be nice for him to go. is there anybody else who can come over and help you tonight? [ Reply | More ]

You'd rather have him go now than after the baby is born, no? [ Reply | More ]

trade it for the opportunity to go out for a massage and/or pedi another evening this week! [ Reply | More ]

I would worry about going in to labor unless you had a very good prenatal therapist. A friend actually had her water break at 37 wks during a massage. Pedi with leg massage would be great though! [ Reply | More ]

a massage does not cause water to break [ Reply | More ]

massage therapist here - someone who doesn't know what they are doing can work the pressure points that stimulate labor, so, yes, in some circumstances, it can happen [ Reply | More ]

if this worked reliably we would not need pitocin. [ Reply | More ]

at 40 weeks going into labor is perfectly fine, and probably unrelated to the massage. [ Reply | More ]

and at 40 weeks that would be bad because? [ Reply | More ]

I don't know... personally I wouldn't have wanted my water to break while on a massage table, but that's just me i guess [ Reply | More ]

let him go. who knows when that baby's coming and he can always leave if you go into labor. no point in you both sitting around counting the hours. [ Reply | More ]

So I disagree with all the previous posters. I'd tell my dh that I'd want to hang out w/ him at home - then again he'd never ask to go to a Yankee game if I was 39wks pg [ Reply | More ]

Let him go! My labor lasted 30 hours and there would have been plenty of time for my husband to return. He won't be able to go to a ballgame for a long time... [ Reply | More ]
