Just read that at two months infants usually sleep 6-8 hours. My 11 week old barely gives us three hours at a time. Is 6-8 hours really the norm? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

np: advice then: don't run to your new baby in fear that s/he will wake up your older child. i got into this terrible habit with dc#2 and it was very hard to break. either that or it's just luck of the draw and my 2nd was a terrible sleeper. but i do wish i'd been less worried about my 1st child b/c she was a great sleeper - not sure why i was so stressed about dc2 waking her up. or: yes when #2 was born she never bothered #1 sleep. My #1 could sleep through a bomb which was great. PLUS I kept #2 in the room with me until I was certain she was sleeping through the night [ Reply | More

Neither of my kids slept 6-8 hours a night until they were closer to a year old. I'm sure mine are on the outside edge of the norm, but I don't think most 11 wo are sleeping that much by any means. [ Reply | More

The best I usually get from my 9 week old is 5 hrs at night (only twice did I get 6) and the Ped yesterday said that was good for this age. [ Reply | More
