Does anyone know whether schools give legacy status to the dcs of someone who did not graduate but attended the school for a long time (10 years) - leaving to go to boarding school because the family left NYC? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

assume no but also assume that that person was not on an alumni mailing list and was not in nyc or contacted by the school in the intervening years, up until last year. [ Reply | More ]

Yeah, that's why they went to best boarding schools in the country, followed by Ivy colleges. But they could not hack NYC private. [ Reply | More ]

OP: you're kidding. i think it goes the other way around. i never knew anyone thrown out of an nyc private to go to boarding school - at least not a name boarding school. in any event, this person left a TT nyc private for a TT boarding bc parents were moving out of nyc [ Reply | More ]

otoh, my dh attended TT for about 2 years but then moved out of state - TT now sends him alumni magazines, etc. I would definitely put it on the application that parent attended the school and list years. [ Reply | More ]

Spence doesn't even accept all sibs, let alone legs. Won't help much. [ Reply | More ]

thanks! this friend is trying to figure out whether they might be eligible for early notification. ultimately, they will have to call the school and get a real determination, but we were chatting and they were curious and i thought someone might have experience. [ Reply | More ]
