friend just had second baby. it's a boy (first was a girl) would you rather receive something from registry or one of those name trains with boyish books (i.e. freight train)? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

ok, it just seems so tacky to me, since I think of registry as for the "big" things (crib, stroller, diaper genie, changing stuff, etc)... and that can be reused [ Reply | More ]

NP: ITA, but I guess because it's a boy people let it slide. We didn't do a registry for db at all because I felt ridiculous asking friends for more gifts. [ Reply | More ]

example. I'm pg now with #3 and wasn't expected. We donated everything yrs ago. This time we are having a boy and we already have 2 girls. My family is asking for me to register since they know we need everything but want to get me what I need and like. I haven't registered but my situation isn't uncommon. It happens [ Reply | More ]

I have never liked those name trains. I have nowhere to put that kind of stuff. Books are always a hit with my kids. [ Reply | More ]

if they've bothered to register, there are things they need. we registered and most people just bought clothes instead of what we really needed -- so we have thousands of newborn-sized cute outfits and had to shell out for everything else! [ Reply | More ]

that's my situation (girl was 4.5 years ago and we no longer have any of her stuff). There's not much I think we really need, but if there were, I would register and really appreciate purchases from that. What I am buying are socks, bibs, a couple of pair of shoes, and other things that don't make the hand-me-down transition very well. Why don't you ask your friend what she would like?
